1. PasswordWallet is not appearing in iTunes, but I already bought it.

Sometimes iTunes forgets about Applications. If you already bought PasswordWallet you can download it again from the AppStore for free. Just push the Buy link in the AppStore and use the same account you used the first time. Apple keeps records of all apps you've ever purchased and will always give you new versions for free.

Once you have PasswordWallet installed:
  1. Plug in your iPhone by USB.
  2. Click on the "Applications" Tab on the right side of iTunes.
  3. Be sure PasswordWallet is checked.
  4. Sync.
2. How do I restore my data with iTunes?

iTunes makes a backup of your data every time you synchronize by USB. You can also make backups by USB at any time by right-clicking on your iPhone in iTunes.

If there are backups, you can restore by right-clicking on your device in iTunes and selecting "Restore". Once selected, a window will appear listing your backups chronologically.

3. The website wants my password by htpasswd, and not by fields built in to the page. How can I auto-fill? (Normally in this case Safari puts up a dialog asking for username and password.)

Web sites that are set up to receive username and password by htpasswd instruct the browser to put up a dialog to receive the login information. Unfortunately this dialog does not appear in PasswordWallet's browser. (This bug has been filed with Apple.)

However, users can still have PasswordWallet enter their information by a hook in the format of the URL for the record. Format the URL for the record as so:

http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@www.usyd.edu.au/anaes/dept/

Where "USERNAME" and "PASSWORD" are your username and password.

4. PasswordWallet is in Japanese! The rest of my programs are in English. How do I fix this?

The language that PasswordWallet uses to display its user interface is determined entirely by the following preference:

On the iPhone:

  1. Go to HOME → Settings → General → International → Language.
  2. Select English.
  3. Then push Done.

PasswordWallet will display in English the next time you run it.

5. I've forgotten my password!

If you've forgotten your password you will not be able to regain access to your data. Your data was encrypted with your password, and only your password can decrypt it.

You can start over by creating a new file in "Choose or Manage Files", available from the Main screen. You can optionally delete your old files here too.

You should also verify that you have selected the correct file in "Choose or Manage Files".

6. Can you really delete all files without a password?

Sounds crazy, doesn't it?

You can delete PasswordWallet from the springboard (Home screen) without a password too. You can also delete PasswordWallet files on your Mac without a password.

Think about all that you can delete on your iPhone without a password: contacts, notes, calendar items... and entire applications.

So PasswordWallet is no worse than the rest of your iPhone.

Users concerned with the deletion of any data on their iPhone should password protect their entire device.

7. My iPhone or iPod Touch says it's out of memory! (Or just crashes a lot.)

The problem is not the storage-memory available in your iPhone. It's run-time memory that programs run in.

Please restart your iPod Touch or iPhone by holding down the powerkey for a few seconds.

This almost always fixes the problem. We continue to work on ways to reduce iPhone PasswordWallet's memory footprint.

8. How do I auto-type on my iPhone?

All PasswordWallet records have a URL field in them. And this URL can be visited by pushing the "Globe" icon or the "Visit" button when viewing an entry.

This opens the URL in a browser built in to PasswordWallet. When a field is open for editing with the keyboard showing, push the "Head" button to auto-type the value in the username field. Push the "Key" button to auto-type the value in the password field.
