1. Why can't I see any old or new Services?
Please check the following:
- Be sure AtYourService is installed in your Applications folder.
- Be sure you've logged out and logged back in after making a change.
- Be sure to check the entire hierarchy for your Service's name. If the name of your Service doesn't begin with "AtYourService/", the menu item will appear elsewhere in the Services menu.
|
2. Why are all of my services greyed out? I can't select any of them!
This is always caused by one of two things:
- Be sure you've selected some text before looking in the menu.
- The application you are using may not be Services aware. Tell the company that makes the software to support Text Services!
|
3. How do I sort or reorder the items in the Services menu?
Mac OS X always sorts the Services menu alphabetically. AtYourService has no control over the appearance of this menu. A request to fix this has been sent to Apple. |
4. Why do some applications display a nice hierarchy in the Services menu while some display the full names with slash characters in them?
This is a bug in Mac OS X. Specifically, Cocoa applications do not display many levels of hierarchy while Carbon applications do. A request to fix this has been sent to Apple. |
5. Why Command-Shift combinations don't work sometimes?
There are the following possibilities why this isn't working:
- If you are typing the key combination before doing anything else in the application, this won't work. A request to fix this has been sent to Apple.
- There may be a conflict with the a key combination in the hosting application. The application's key combination always take precedence.
- The application may not be trapping the key combination for some other reason and not sending it on to OS X.
